Information About Aesthetic Medicine

A medical license is needed in order to practice any type of aesthetic medicine in the US.  Several training programs are available in aesthetic medicine.

The American Association of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery Courses include:

Facial aesthetics program
Dermal fillers course
Business of aesthetics course

The American Board of Aesthetic Medicine Courses include:
Botox training
Chemical peel training
Laser treatment training course

American Association of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery Certification

You will receive a certificate following the completion of each Step
or the successful passing of a written examination 
Step 1: Certificate in Aesthetic Medicine         
Step 2: Certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Medicine 
Step 3: Certificate in Anti-Aging Medicine 
Fellowship Examination: Fellowship Certificate (Fellow American Board of Aesthetic Medicine)Board Examination: Board Certificate (Diplomat American Board of Aesthetic Medicine) 
                                                     
At present all Steps and the examination can be taken at the same time.  After completing all 3 Steps delegates will have collect and submit 1 case for each procedure of dermalfiller, botulinum toxin, and resurfacing before they can sit for the Board Examination.
Step 1 training (3 days) involves basic techniques in aesthetic medicine (botox, filler, chemical peel, and laser/light therapy).  Lectures are scheduled in the morning, hands-on and demonstrations  with actual patients are done in the afternoon of each day.  Cost for Step 1 is $2500 US / 19.5 CME

Step 2 training (3 days)  involves more advanced techniques such as facial contouring with filler & botox, sclerotherapy , photodynamic therapy, minor office procedure, anesthesia for aesthetic medicine, and teeth whitening.   Cost for step 2 training is $3500 US / 18.75 CME

Step 3 training (3 days) covers anti-aging medicine, stem cell/PRP therapy, and nonsurgical skin (RF, Ultrasound). Knowledge in Anti-Aging Medicine is essential for today's aesthetic and cosmetic physicians. More and more patients are either seeking anti-aging treatment or are already receiving anti-aging therapies. Step 3 is the final training program for participants in the process of obtaining Board Certification from The American Board of Aesthetic Medicine. It is also designed for those who would like to add Anti-Aging Medicine & Stem Cell/PRP Therapy to their current practices. Basic concept in stem cell therapy and hormone replacement will be thoroughly covered in this 3 days program.  Evaluation of the aging patient, the female hormonal system, stem cell functions, stem cell harvesting, PRP harvesting, growth factors, nutrition, and fitness are thoroughly covered.  Cost for Step 3 is $3000 US / 18.75 CME

Fellowship in Aesthetic Medicine Fellowships are issued by The American Board of Aesthetic Medicine to physicians with passing scores on the written fellowship examination. Candidates must have completed both Step 1 & Step 2 Aesthetic Medicine Training from ABAM in order to qualify for the examination.   Cost for the Fellowship Examination is $2000 US

Board Certification is only opened to physicians. To qualify for the Board Certification examination Step1, Step 2, and Step 3 training must be satisfactorily completed. Cost for the Board Certification examination is $2000 US 

Courses are also available with one-on-one training.  This can be done under Individualized Training tailor to your schedule (San Diego location only).  The cost for individualized training is cost of Step1 or Step2 course + $1500.   One-on-one training is also available at $1700 per day for any aesthetic procedure.
